Marketing and Development Manager

Summary:

The Marketing and Development Manager will report directly to the Executive Director but work independently to manage ANBA’s marketing, communication, and development initiatives to raise awareness of ANBA’s mission, programs, and services among its core stakeholders: donors, (including individuals, companies, and their employees, foundations, and corporate sponsors), families, Regional Center Case Management, and community members. The goal is to broaden awareness and donor support for the organization and cement ANBA’s standing as a leading expert in delivering innovative support and relevant training to adults with disabilities through, effective print media, Facebook, Twitter, bloggers, and other cutting-edge social media and Internet outlets.

  • Manage, grow, and build ANBA’s brand among its key audiences and stakeholders
  • Work with the E.D on a communications strategy that will promote, enhance, and protect the organization’s brand reputation
  • Work with the E.D and Community Engagement Coordinator on public relations campaigns that elevate ANBA’s standing at the local, state and national level
  • Preparing varied and integrated communications products and services including newsletters, fact sheets, and other print publications; web and print-based presentations; e-newsletters, bulletins, and other online communications; media and public relations; and marketing
  • Work with the E.D on implementing targeted marketing initiatives for each of the ANBA’s key audiences by making the best use of all channels including, but not limited to, web, printed collateral, social media, printed materials, marketing partnerships, and events
  • Developing, integrating, and implementing a broad range of public relations activities relative to the strategic direction and positioning of the organization
  • Building and nurturing relationships with key media outlets, including traditional and new media, and pitching stories related to the organization’s work and current and emerging projects and interests.
  • Optimizing ANBA’s public relations and marketing goals by coordinating and integrating effective utilization of all available communication vehicles including web/social media, media relations, special reports, events, and premium speaking opportunities for its leadership
  • Oversee and manage the donor database, ensure thank you letters to donors
  • Communicate and coordinate with Directors to determine program grant requests, scheduling of prospective tours, and identification of event volunteers.
  • Research grant opportunities and submit grant proposals.
  • Maintain contact with all donors and supporters of ANBA.
  • Maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet company core values.
  • Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all support departments.

Additional Job Requirements:

  • Load and unload buses.
  • Assist in other departments as needed.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have/be:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter and able to manage flexible hours to work when needed to get tasks and projects completed
  • Maintain high standards of performance demonstrating attention to detail and excellence
  • Able to utilize social media networks (Twitter, Facebook) for campaigns and/or fundraising
  • Ability to maximize donations through the use of web design software
  • Ability to convert information and documents into web-ready/press-ready text
  • Excellent Microsoft Office knowledge (Word, PowerPoint, Publisher & Excel)
  • Excellent Adobe skills (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) or equivalent preferred
  • Working knowledge of SalsaLab database or similar donor database
  • Excellent attention to detail  Excellent mathematical skills and reasoning skills
  • Organized, with the ability to successfully handle multiple requests simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Genuine interest in the use of technology and the Internet to enhance ANBA communications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field such as communications and/or journalism.
  • At least three (3) years marketing, communications or development experience is required.
  • Proven media and public relations experience preferred
  • Experience developing print and social media campaigns and materials.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee will be required to utilize a vehicle to make contacts with prospective donors in the community. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel or crouch.

Note: Any lifting of program participants always requires two people.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. The environment is indoors in an office and classroom setting.

Requirements for Employment:

  • Submit to a current physical examination and tuberculosis screening.
  • Provide a copy and maintain a current California driver’s license, submit a DMV clearance, and a copy of the current insurance certificate for personnel file.
  • Maintain a current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Current fingerprint clearance (prints must be sent to the Department of Justice within four days of hire).
  • Sign a Form I-9 and provide required documentation.
