Independent Living Skills

Through self-awareness, participants will learn skills to lead a more independent, self-directed and personally fulfilling life. They will enhance their skills in the areas of household management, personal needs, family responsibilities, food preparation, citizenship responsibilities and leisure activities. Participants will develop mechanisms for managing everyday situations that are a direct result of having a disability and develop ways to build a positive self-image. Role play will be done in class on certain topics to reinforce these concepts.
